Piano

I have started piano lessons. I love it! I get excited about scale fingering. The other night Bethany, my sister-in-law, was holding Isaac at the piano. I figured it would be a good opportunity to show how big his hands are. When he was born my dad said,"He was born with half an octave." I was trying to spread his fingers across the keys. He could have reached more but he wasn't being very cooperative.

Oral-Motor Skills

So I may have gotten carried away. I purchased a booster seat (deep red and tan) for 12 dollars brand new on sale. Then, when Isaac turned 4 months old I noticed he was eyeing everyone eating food and was sitting up pretty well unsupported. So I decided to give Isaac some rice cereal. The first time was great. He was manipulating the bolus, swallowing well, and didn't have bad tongue thrust. He even liked grabbing at the spoon and bowl.

Then he started hating it. For a couple days he would humor me a little bit but would start refusing the spoon. So I have stopped. I decided I was getting ahead of myself, even though he had the skills. He is still my little baby. So for the next month or so, as long as he isn't starving, I am going to exclusively feed him. Why do we always look towards the next milestone and disregard the current level of functioning...did I really just type "current level of functioning?" Yikes...

A Feet Fettish

Where does the time go. I wish I had time to think about creating witty blog posts. Unfortunately, at this time in my life I am lucky to have energy enough to get the mac, and upload pictures. Only 4 full months left of working full-time!! Then Isaac will be even more entertaining. So, until, occasional uploads to appease the crazy aunts will have to do.

Here he is touching his feet. He has been doing this for two weeks now. He likes to pull at the cloth around his feet and eat it. He did this the first time during a diaper change. Now he does it all the time!
Okay, so he isn't exactly pulling at his feet here...but he does pull them to his face I promise!

Isaac's Raspberries

These are Isaac's first attempts to produce raspberries. He can't quite get his lips to vibrate and move. They are more like air puffs. He is adorable. He is starting to grab at his feet, grabbing things, and loves watching us eat...
